It was a pleasure seeing many of my Ontario colleagues at the Ontario Centre of Excellence’s Discovery 11 event in mid-May. Congratulations to Dr Tom Corr and his team for a very successful event celebrating innovation in Ontario. Janet Scholz and I staffed an ACCT Canada booth at the event to showcase ACCT Canada and connect with and build on our Ontario membership. OCE is an ACCT Canada member and strong supporter.
Just prior to Discovery 11, Bradley Fox, Director, Technology Transfer Networks for the OCE hosted an event to resuscitate and create a vision for a revitalized OnSETT (the Ontario Society for Excellence in Technology Transfer), one of ACCT Canada’s four founding regional networks. OnSETT had become dormant with the end of the funding programs that supported it; however, strong support was voiced for a re-envisioned OnSETT to network and foster more effective interaction among OnSETT’s former constituency – tech transfer/ research business development professionals from Ontario universities, colleges and teaching hospitals – and with their industry counterparts. It is a welcome development for our Ontario colleagues and helps advance ACCT Canada’s mission. Jennifer MacInnis from Ryerson University has created an OnSETT group on Linkedin as one means of building communication channels.
